Oshawa residents can watch the mayor and councillors take their oaths for the 2026–2030 term at Tribute Communities Centre on Monday, November 16. The City has announced a 9:30 a.m. inaugural meeting, with public entry beginning at 8:30 a.m.
No registration required
The public invitation does not require an RSVP or advance registration. Visitors should enter through Gate 1, the main entrance at Athol and Mary streets. The venue’s address is 99 Athol Street East.
The City says using the larger, City-owned venue will make room for more residents and the families and friends of incoming council members than its council chamber, which accommodates approximately 75 attendees. The gathering also recognizes the venue’s 20th anniversary.
Getting there and watching remotely
Parking is available at Parking Garage 3 on Mary Street between King and Bond streets. Accessible parking is on Red Tilson Lane on the west side of the venue, reached from Bruce Street. The announcement does not say parking is free.
Residents travelling by bus should consult Durham Region Transit for current routes and schedules. Those watching from home can use the livestream on the City’s website; RogersTV Durham will also televise the proceedings.
Questions and accessibility accommodation requests can be directed to Legislative Services at 905-436-3311 or clerks@oshawa.ca. Check the official announcement before travelling for any changed arrangements.
