About Ajax
The Town of Ajax is a rapidly growing community on the northern shore of Lake Ontario, bordering Pickering to the west and Whitby to the east. With a population of approximately 130,000, Ajax is one of Durham Region’s larger municipalities and has seen significant residential and commercial development in recent decades.
Ajax is divided into three wards, each represented by one Regional Councillor on Durham Regional Council. Ward 2 elects two Local Councillors, while Wards 1 and 3 each elect one. The council consists of 8 members: the Mayor, 3 Regional Councillors, and 4 Local Councillors. Key neighbourhoods include the historic Ajax waterfront area, Applecroft, Carruthers, and the growing Audley North community. The town is well-connected via Highway 401 and GO Transit’s Ajax station.
