A Peace Pole donated by the Bowmanville Rotary Club is scheduled to be dedicated at Zoo Lands Park in Bowmanville on Monday, September 21, at 2 p.m.
The public ceremony coincides with the International Day of Peace. Durham Post reports that the two-metre pole will display a peace message in eight languages, including English, French and Ojibway.
Bowmanville Rotarian Joe Solway described the installation as a reflection of the community and Rotary’s focus on peacebuilding. Mayor Adrian Foster thanked the club and said the installation would promote inclusion and understanding. Rebecca Grieve, a past president of the club, helped guide the acquisition.
