Whitby’s November mayoral newsletter lists a National Indigenous Veterans Day ceremony in Brooklin on November 8, followed by three local Remembrance Day ceremonies on November 11. All four are scheduled for 11 a.m.

November 8: Brooklin ceremony

The National Indigenous Veterans Day ceremony is listed for the Brooklin Cenotaph at the Brooklin Community Centre and Library, 8 Vipond Road.

The Town says its Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Committee is coordinating the event with guidance from Elder Tom Cowie of Hiawatha First Nation, whom the newsletter identifies as a Knowledge Keeper and veteran.

November 11: three locations

  • Whitby Cenotaph, 109 Dundas Street East: hosted by Royal Canadian Legion Branch 112.
  • Brooklin Cenotaph, 8 Vipond Road: hosted by Royal Canadian Legion Branch 152.
  • Intrepid Park, 2008 Boundary Road: hosted by the Canadian Armed Forces.

These are public event venues. The newsletter lists ceremony times and hosts but does not provide parking arrangements, road-closure details or an inclement-weather plan. Check the Town’s current information before travelling.

Sources and verification

Town of Whitby — Mayor’s Monthly Newsletter, November 2026, read in full November 1. The official RSS feed dates this issue November 1, 2026; the feed does not specify a timezone. The page’s browser title incorrectly says February, while its breadcrumb, November event details and RSS entry identify the November issue. Dates above follow the issue’s body and feed, not that inconsistent browser title.

The Town’s November Awareness Days notice, dated October 30 in its RSS feed and read November 1, separately confirms the November 8 and November 11 observance dates. It does not itself supply the ceremony locations or times.
