Whitby’s Operation Cozy Toes collection will accept warm socks and new, unwrapped toys from November 2 through December 4, according to Mayor Elizabeth Roy’s November newsletter on the Town’s website.
Roy says the initiative began in 2024 to collect socks for people experiencing homelessness and expanded in 2025 to include toys for CTV’s Toy Mountain in support of the Salvation Army. This year’s announcement again lists both kinds of donations.
Public drop-off locations
The announced collection points include Whitby Town Hall, the Central, Brooklin and Rossland library branches, and the Whitby 55+ Recreation Centre. The newsletter also lists participating businesses and community organizations.
Residents can consult the full official list of collection locations before choosing a destination. The announcement gives the collection dates but does not set common opening hours for every location; check the selected site’s hours before travelling.
What to bring
The request is for warm socks and new, unwrapped toys. The newsletter does not provide a separate list of accepted toy types or specify an end-of-day collection time on December 4.
Sources and verification
Town of Whitby — Mayor’s Monthly Newsletter, November 2026, read in full November 1. The official RSS feed dates this issue November 1, 2026; the feed does not specify a timezone. The page’s browser title incorrectly says February, while its breadcrumb, November event details and RSS entry identify the November issue. Dates above follow the issue’s body and feed, not that inconsistent browser title.
