A two-stage road project is getting underway on Shore Line Road, also known as Regional Road 47, between Mara Road and the Durham–Simcoe boundary. Brock’s official construction notice says Durham Region has hired Road Surface Recycling Ltd. for the work.

Drainage first, road work to follow

Crews are expected on site during the week of November 2. The notice places ditching and culvert replacement in 2026, with the remaining work beginning in May 2027. It gives November 30 as the weather-dependent completion target for the current construction period; that is not a completion date for the entire project.

The overall project includes pulverizing and resurfacing the road between Mara Road and Thorah Concession Road 9. North of that section, plans include full-depth asphalt removal and replacement and a new segment of steel-beam guide rail, along with drainage improvements.

Expect lane restrictions; railway-area closure date still to come

Daily lane restrictions will be needed. A full closure will also be required for work near the Canadian National Railway crossing, but the notice does not set that date. The Region says advance notice will be provided.

Drivers should plan for delays. People nearby may also notice construction noise and ground vibration. A further construction notice is expected before crews return for the remaining work in 2027.
