Drivers using West Side Drive and Baseline Road in Bowmanville should allow for delays while crews install traffic signals at the intersection, according to a new Clarington notice.

The municipality says lane reductions and short-term closures may be needed. It has not announced a continuous closure of the intersection or a fixed daily closure schedule.

Signals, sidewalks and road markings

The work includes traffic poles and signals, electrical conduit and equipment, replacement of concrete sidewalk, line painting and boulevard restoration. Clarington says the project responds to changing traffic patterns around the new Bowmanville Community Complex.

Some work will continue next spring

Clarington gives an end-of-November target for construction, while noting that some work will extend into spring 2027. Both timelines are approximate and depend on weather and other factors.

Residents can use the official project notice for contractor and municipal contact information and should check for updated traffic instructions before travelling through the area.
