The Town of Whitby will host a public coyote information session September 29 with support from Coyote Watch Canada.
Event details
The session runs from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Centennial Building. The Town says the event is intended to help residents understand coyote behaviour and learn what to do during an encounter.
The mayor’s newsletter also says coyote safety has been added to a separate community-safety roundtable involving the Town, Durham Regional Police and local school boards.
Before the session
Residents should continue to use the Town’s wildlife reporting and safety information for non-emergency sightings, and call emergency services only when there is an immediate threat to public safety.
