Whitby says work is expected to begin in mid-September to remove vacant municipal buildings on Brock Street, weather permitting.

Work plan

The Town expects the coordinated demolition projects to take about 12 weeks. Work will be staged to reduce disruption, although nearby residents and businesses may encounter noise, dust, construction traffic and occasional sidewalk closures.

Temporary parking planned

The immediate plan is to prepare part of one site for temporary paid parking to support downtown parking demand. The Town says it is still considering long-term uses for the properties.
