Clarington is asking residents what they want from future festivals, markets, performances and other community events. A new consultation will help shape both a municipality-wide event strategy and plans for an outdoor gathering space in Bowmanville.

Two connected plans

The Municipality’s project page distinguishes a 10-year Special Event Strategy, supported by a five-year Action Plan, from a five-year Operational Event Plan for the proposed event and gathering spaces at the new Clarington Sports and Event Grounds, 801 Maple Grove Road.

Topics include the mix and scale of events, year-round programming, accessibility, amenities, municipal support, partnerships, staffing and the processes organizers use to stage events.

Event space feedback, not sports-field consultation

The operational plan will examine how the proposed outdoor event space could function. A covered stage is a preliminary concept, not an announcement that a venue has opened or a final design has been approved.

The Municipality says this survey focuses on event and gathering spaces. Feedback on sports facilities and fields will be sought through a separate engagement process later.

How to participate

Visit Clarington’s official Special Events page for the consultation route and current participation details. The announcement advertises a chance to win one of five $50 Visa gift cards; consult the survey’s terms before entering. The pages reviewed did not display a closing date, so none is assumed here.

Sources and verification

The full official announcement was read November 4. Its November 3 publication date was checked against the official RSS feed, separately from the event or work dates.

The full project page was also read to distinguish the 10-year strategy from the two five-year plans and confirm the survey’s scope.
