Several Durham Region facilities, programs and front-counter services will be closed Wednesday, September 30, in observance of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
Closures include Regional Headquarters and its public counters and call-centre services; Provincial Offences Courts and offices; Ontario Works offices in Ajax, Oshawa and Uxbridge; Family Services Durham locations; selected adult day programs; Regional waste facilities; and several Health Department clinics and services.
Water-sample service pause
Water-sample drop-off and bottle pickup will be unavailable from September 29 at 8:30 a.m. until October 1 at 8:30 a.m. at Regional Headquarters in Whitby, the Health Department’s Port Perry office, the Uxbridge Municipal Office and the Garnet B. Rickard Recreation Complex in Bowmanville.
Services continuing
The Region says curbside waste collection, Durham Region Transit and directly operated Early Learning and Child Care Centres will continue without interruption. Durham Region Outreach will also continue supporting people experiencing homelessness. Some court and prosecution services remain available online, although they will not be monitored during the closure.
