Clarington’s 2026 municipal election voting period opens at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, October 20 and closes at 8 p.m. on Monday, October 26.

Eligible electors can vote online or by telephone. The municipality says voter information letters were mailed in early October with a personalized PIN and voting instructions.

Ballots depend on address and school support

The offices shown on an elector’s ballot depend on their address and school-board support. Clarington says ballots may include candidates for mayor, regional councillor, local councillor and school board trustee.

The municipality links voters to its official candidate list and ward finder so they can review the races associated with their address before voting.

Help is available for voter-list and access issues

Anyone who did not receive a voter information letter may not be on the voters’ list. Clarington directs those residents to an Election Assistance Centre, the Municipal Administrative Centre or a Clarington Public Library branch with identification showing their name, address and date of birth.

Election Assistance Centres can issue a voter information letter and PIN, add an eligible elector to the list, correct address or school-support information, provide internet or telephone access, and help with the voting process. Hours and locations vary by date, so voters should confirm the current schedule on the official page before travelling.

Special voting locations have also been arranged for eligible residents of specified retirement, long-term-care and health-care institutions. Those locations are restricted to residents of the institution.
