The Durham District School Board says its 2025–2026 provincial assessment results show strong literacy outcomes alongside continuing mathematics challenges and achievement gaps for some student groups.
Results highlighted by the board
- Grade 6: 85 per cent met the provincial standard in reading and 84 per cent in writing.
- Grade 3: 73 per cent met the standard in reading and 66 per cent in writing.
- The Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test success rate was 86 per cent.
- Grade 6 mathematics improved slightly to 48 per cent, while Grade 9 mathematics remained at 58 per cent.
- Grade 6 French Immersion results reached 94 per cent in both reading and writing.
DDSB said outcomes improved in several assessments for multilingual learners and students with Individual Education Plans, but gaps remain, particularly in mathematics. The board says it will continue structured literacy, targeted mathematics instruction and responsive supports.
